Flaccianello della Pieve - Fontodi 2016

From the heart of the "Conca d'Oro" (Golden Basin) of Panzano in Chianti, the Fontodi biodynamic winery is an icon of Chianti Classico and one of the finest interpreters of Sangiovese. The 2016 Flaccianello della Pieve is their signature wine, a pure Sangiovese that has earned a place of honor among the great Italian and international wines. 2016 was an exceptional vintage in Tuscany, producing wines of extraordinary harmony and longevity.

With an alcohol content of 14.5%, the wine ages for approximately 24 months in French oak barriques. It displays an intense ruby ​​red color and a highly complex bouquet. The nose opens with aromas of ripe red fruit, such as cherry and blackberry, enriched with notes of tobacco, sweet spices, leather, and a touch of licorice and underbrush. On the palate, the 2016 Flaccianello is powerful and structured, yet incredibly elegant and velvety. The tannins are dense yet extremely fine, and the vibrant acidity ensures exceptional evolution. The finish is long and persistent, a true masterpiece of balance. It pairs magnificently with rich red meat dishes, game, and aged cheeses.
