Galatrona Petrolo 2015

From the historic Petrolo estate, located in the Valdarno di Sopra, Tuscany, the 2015 Galatrona is an icon of Italian wine and one of the finest expressions of Merlot outside of Bordeaux. The biodynamic winery has masterfully interpreted its terroir, creating a wine that rivals the great "Super Tuscans." 2015 was an exceptional vintage, producing wines of remarkable richness, depth, and longevity.

Made from 100% Merlot grapes and with an alcohol content of 14.5%, the wine ages for approximately 18 months in French barriques. On the nose, it presents an opulent and layered bouquet of dark fruits, such as blackberry and blueberry, enriched with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, sweet spices, and a hint of underbrush. On the palate, it is powerful and velvety, with a full body and silky, well-integrated tannins. Balanced acidity and impressive structure ensure a very long evolution. The finish is long and persistent, a true masterpiece of balance. It pairs magnificently with rich red meat dishes, game, and aged cheeses.
