The Sodi of San Niccolò Castellare di Castellina 2020
From the historic Castellare di Castellina winery, an icon of Chianti Classico and renowned for its rigorous and traditional interpretation of Sangiovese, I Sodi di San Niccolò 2020 is a wine that has made history. Recognized as one of the first "Super Tuscans" to be blended with Sangiovese and Malvasia Nera, this wine represents the pinnacle of this winery's commitment to quality and the valorization of the terroir. 2020 was a very good vintage in Tuscany, producing wines of great structure and elegance, with remarkable aging potential.
Produced from a blend of Sangiovese and Malvasia Nera and with an alcohol content of 14.5%, the wine ages for approximately 20 months in French oak barrels. It displays an intense ruby red color and a highly complex bouquet. The nose opens with aromas of ripe cherry, black cherry, and berries, enriched with notes of tobacco, sweet spices, and a balsamic touch. On the palate, the wine is powerful and structured, yet incredibly elegant and velvety. The tannins are dense yet extremely fine, and the vibrant acidity ensures exceptional evolution. The finish is long and persistent, a true masterpiece of balance. It pairs magnificently with rich red meat dishes, game, and aged cheeses.
