The Joy of Truth 2001
From the prestigious Verité winery, located in Sonoma County, California, the 2001 La Joie is an extraordinary expression of an exceptional vintage, which has allowed the wine to reach a complex and fascinating maturity. The winery, founded by renowned winemaker Pierre Seillan, is renowned for its Bordeaux-style blends that reflect the depth and uniqueness of California's terroir.
Made from a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend, with an alcohol content of 14.5%, the wine has been aged extensively in French oak barrels. More than twenty years after the harvest, it presents a complex and layered bouquet that has given way to tertiary notes of dried black fruit, cedar, tobacco, leather, and a touch of underbrush. On the palate, it is powerful yet incredibly soft and velvety, with perfectly integrated tannins and a pleasant freshness that balances its complexity. The finish is extremely long and leaves an impression of great harmony and depth. It pairs magnificently with rich red meat dishes, game, and aged cheeses.
